Demonstrations §
Demonstrations should §
- be exaggerated
- be highly visible to all members of the class
- focus on specific skill and body part
- be repeated often, especially when learning a new skill
- be done separately from explaining. Tell then show!
How to demo: §
- Explain - WHAT, WHY, and HOW of the maneuver
- Demonstrate
- Statically - if possible show students what to do without moving on the snow
- Dynamically - show the maneuver towards and away from the group. Set a track for them to follow
- Exaggerate - It is important to give a clear picture for your students
- Check for Understanding - did they understand what’s new or what you are trying to show
